ARGENTINA HIGHLIGHTS - 16 DAYS

Visiting: Buenos Aires. Iguazu Falls, Bariloche, El Calafate and Ushuaia.

Day 1- BUENOS AIRES - ARRIVAL: Welcome to Argentina! Upon arrival in Buenos Aires you will be met at the airport and have a transfer in private to your hotel. On your first day in the city you will be contacted by one of our Destination Hosts, who will check with you details of your itinerary, provide you with the printed documentation, and add any information you might need. She/he will be your local contact while you are traveling with us and will be ready to answer your questions, give you tips about places to go, restaurants to eat and anything else you might be interested in. Not just about Buenos Aires, also about the different places you will visit during your whole itinerary.

Day 2 – BUENOS AIRES: Buenos Aires City Tour In the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel (shared service) to enjoy our City Tour.Over the course of a half day you will have the chance to visit the historical and political centre of the city; San Telmo with its cobblestone streets,La Bocawhere Buenos Aires turns colorful and tango is ever present, and the chic and aristocratic Recoleta, where the big palaces remind us that Buenos Aires was once the Paris of the South. In the evening you will be picked up from your hotel (shared service) to be driven to one of Buenos Aires' most emblematic cultural highlight's; a Dinner and Tango Show offering a spectacular demonstration of the finest local dancing accompanied by delicious Argentine cuisine and all the malbec you'd like

Day 3 – BUENOS AIRES: Breakfast. Tigre and Delta Tour .Our trip goes to the north part of the city. As we pass through the gardens and the beautiful buildings, we can see a sensational panoramic view of la Plata River, the widest river in the world. We will see Jorge Newbery Airport, River Plate World Stadium and Buenos Aires University. We will take Panamericana Freeway to make a route of 30 km until we arrive to Tigre City: the cradle of rowing. We will take the modern Panoramic Catamaran and we will enjoy the Paraná Delta. In a quiet, stable and safe route we will go into the islands and islets labyrinth full of rivers and streams. We will learn about the life in the island, recreation and aquatic sports. When we arrive we will take our bus back in order to connect the most elegant residential areas facing the River. We will descend in the Main Station: San Isidro, to enjoy the interesting places this area offers.
There, we will enjoy the old part and the Cathedral. Back to Buenos Aires by bus we will see the Presidential residency placed in Olivos. BUS + TIGRE + DELTA in a Catamaran.The ideal combination to enjoy the north part of Buenos Aires!!

Day 4 – BUENOS AIRES / IGUAZU: Breakfast. At appropriate time in the morning, you will have a private transfer to the domestic airport to take your flight to Puerto Iguazu. Upon arrival, you will enjoy half day excursion to the Brazilian side of the Iguazu Falls where you will enjoy vast panoramic views of the Falls allowing you to take them in in their entirety. "Brazil requires that most tourists have a visa to visit the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls. Please check with the Brazilian Consulate to ensure that you have the appropriate visa before traveling or you will not be allowed to enter Brazil. For example- US citizens, Canadians & Australians (as well as many other nationalities) need a visa to visit the Brazilian side ofIguazuFalls."

Day 5 – IGUAZU: After breakfast you will depart on a full day tour to the Argentine side of the Iguazu Falls where you will have intimate views of this unforgettable section of the Iguazu River. Lower and upper walkways permit up close and personal experiences with this magnificent spectacle of nature. Trails through the 210 square mile reserve provide visitors with various views of the Falls, especially the largest one, Devil's Throat. The ecological train ride is included in the tour with an option to add the Safari Nautico boat trip ( for an additional cost ). The Iguazu boat trip takes you right up to the base of the "natural shower". Be sure to take some extra clothes if you want to do this excursion). Return to the hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 6 – IGUAZU / BARILOCHE: Breakfast. At appropriate time in the morning, you will have a transfer to the Iguazu airport to take your flight to Bariloche. After a quick connection in Buenos Aires you will arrive in Bariloche and our staff will take you to your Hotel. Rest of tha day free.

Day 7 - BARILOCHE: Breakfast. Tronador Mountain Tour. A full-day excursion. It is unique as it shows us the most breathtaking places of theNahuel Huapi National Park. Visiting lakes, beaches, mountains and waterfalls and admiring the highest mountain in the region, the Tronador, 3478 meters high, a natural bprder between Chile and Argentina. From its viewpoint located at its base you can gaze at the incredible glacier of the ansoRiver. Here you will visit, The Ventisquero Negro, name given to this place by the huge brownish-gray blocks formed by avalanches of ice and mud, La Garganta del Diablo.
The Devil’s Throat which is a waterfall of meltwater surrounded by high rock walls, and the Saltillo de las Nalcas, a hidden waterfall in the middle of the forest.This mountain was named Tronador due to the thunder that originates from the falling blocks of ice. Return to Bariloche city hotel in the evening.

Day 8– BARILOCHE: Breakfast. During the morning Small Circuit Excursion. We leave Bariloche along the Bustillo Av., which goes alongside the Nahuel Huapi lake with its beautiful scenery. After doing10 Km we reach the base of Cerro Campanario (Belfry Hill) (Chair lift included), where we can see the Nahuel Huapi and Perito Moreno lakes, El Trebol Lagoon, the San Pedro and Llao Llao peninsulas, Isla Victoria, and the Otto, Lopez, Goye and a Catedral Hills. At Llao Llao you will come across the San Eduardo chapel, and Puerto Pañuelo (HandkerchiefPort) is on the Nahuel Huapi lakeside. Heading on down the road we go by a golf course, and over the Angostura bridge towards Lopez Bay, at the foot of the Lopez hill. Then you cross the bridge on lake Moreno's narrow point and go along the side of El Trebol (Clover) lagoon. Further on you reach the junction with Bustillo Av. Along which you return to the city. (Regular service, half day excursion).

During the Afternoon. Lake excursión to Victoria Island and Arrayanes Woods Nacional Park.

The most important and traditional excursion of the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Setting sail from Puerto Pañuelo and after an hours’ navigation, arriving at Quetrihue Peninsula, where you will admire the magnificence of the unique Arrayanes forest in the world. Walking through a decked path you will gaze at centennial specimens.From a botanical point of view, the arrayan is a plant classified as a bush which only grows like a tree in this area. It has a cinnamon color with a thin bark which upon coming off, leaves white spots which give this tree its unique look. Then we set sail to Victoria Islandon a 40 min trip, arriving at Puerto Anchorena. There you will be able to visit a coniferous nursery, walking through paths and natural viewpoints where you will be able to admire the magnificent beauty of the place. One of the paths leads us to Playa del Toro, where cave paintings can be seen, and visit a volcanic sand beach. Along this walk our National Park guides will show you and inform you every detail related to this excursion.

Day 9 – BARILOCHE / EL CALAFATE: Breakfast at your hotel and transfer to Bariloche airport. Flight to Bariloche and after one hour and a half flight, arrival in El Calafate airport and transfer to your Hotel. Accomodation in El Calafate for three nights with breakfast.

Day 10 – EL CALAFATE: Breakfast. Full day excursion to Perito Moreno Glacier with MINITREKKING. Transfer from your hotel to the Los Glaciares National Park. The duration of this tour is a full day in the park, the tour begins at the port "Under the Shadow" about a6 km. Mirador before the glacier, where you embark to cross Lake Rico, reaching the opposite shore about 20 minutes by boat off the south wall of P. Moreno glacier. After landing you access the shelter where the guides organized groups each consist of up to 20 people. Then begins a walk along the lake about 20 minutes to the glacier. At the edge of the ice, the guides put crampons participants who receive instructions on how they should move on the ice. The tour on the glacier takes about 2 hours, and during the course of it you can enjoy a variety of ice formations such as cracks, crevasses, drains, small ponds, etc. The hike is moderate. The ice surface over which you walk is irregular, but firm and safe. Explanations about flora, fauna, and general glaciology of the region as well as the particular phenomenon occurring in P. Moreno glacier and eventually produced his break will be received. At the end of the walk, we return to the shelter through the lush Magellanic forest.

Day 11– EL CALAFATE: Breakfast. Lakeside Excursionto Estancia Cristina with Upsala Glacier. After pickup at your hotel in El Calafate, drive 28 milesto the Patagonian port of Punta Bandera.Board the sightseeing boat for the 3-hour trip to Estancia Cristina Settle in to the comfortable boat as it glides among icebergs of all sizes that have calved off the nearby glaciers. View the snow-covered peaks of the surrounding mountains as you sail along the western front of Upsala Glacier, arriving at Estancia Cristina via the Cristina Channel. Disembark to visit the ranch's museum and the former sheep-shearing shack to learn about what life was like here when it was a functioning sheep and cattle ranch. A short walk up the Caterina River to the estancia's other historical buildings, including its chapel. Following lunch (own expense) . You will take anoff road trip for a 3-hour adventure along a scenic alpine trail. At a mountain refuge, climb out of your vehicle for a short walk over terrain that was recently covered by the glacier to get right up close to Upsala Glacier itself. Enjoy amazing views of the Andes, the Patagonian Ice Field and nearby Lake William.
In the other worldly scenery on the boat ride back to Punta Bandera during the late afternoon, then board your bus back to El Calafate. Your day of Patagonian adventure ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Day 12 – EL CALAFATE / USHUAIA: Breakfast.At appropriate time, you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight back to Ushuaia .Upon arrival you will be transferred to you hotel, Accomodation in Ushuaia for two nights.

Day 13 - USHUAIA: Breakfast. Morning tour to Tierra del Fuego National Park. This southern most National Park of America, is situated just 12km way from Ushuaia City Center. Before we enter the National Park, we make a stop at the End of the World train station where the tourists will have the option of taking the 45 minutes train tour that ends inside of the National Park. The passengers that do not wish to take the train, will enter the National Park on the bus. Then they will join the rest of the group at the end of the train tour once inside of the National Park.
Once verybody is back on the bus, we have a visit to Ensenada Zaratiegui (only in SUMMER) and then we continue the tour stoping when we can at panoramic spots of the road and while the flora and fauna of the place mesmerizes us with its beauty.On our way to Lapataia bay, we have the Green Lagoon. If the weather allows it, we will have a walk to the Black Lagoon trail of around 40 mintues (2 km, easy walk) or we follow the Beavers trail. Once we finish with the walk, we follow the road once again until we get to the beginning of thePan American Highwaythat ends inAlaskawhere the famos sign of the End of theNational Road N° 3 is.On the way back to Ushuaia, we stop at Acigami Lake (former Roca Lake) and we have some time to visit Alakush visitors centre where you can have a snack and coffee and learn more about Ushuaia, its flora, fauna, history and etc.
During the afternoon we include a Sailing Excursion on the Beagle Channel to Sea Lions Island and Les Eclareurs Lighthouse .After lunch , at 2.30pm , the meeting point is the office at the touristic port. After changing the voucher we access the port and we pay the tax fee. Then the embarkation takes place and we depart to the Beagle Channel in the Catamara. We sailUshuaiaBaythrough Paso Chico to get to the Beagle Channel main stream. We arrive first at theBirdsIsland, where we will have a look at Skuas, Black Eyebrow Albatrosses, Steamer Ducks, Upland Geese, Seagulls and more. Then we see the Sea Lions Island, where we will see South American Sea Lion and the Fur Sea Lion. All these islands belong to the Bridges Archipielagos.The tour continues until we reach Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. This lighthouse indicates the sailors the dangerous rocks beneath it and the proximity of Ushuaia Bay. At the same island, we can appreciate Imperial and Rock Cormorants and you will learn about the sinking of the SS Monte Cervantes in 1930. On the way back we have some time to enjoy the mountains around Ushuaia.

Day 14 – USHUAIA: Breakfast. Tour To Lakes Escondido and Fagnano. Leave Ushuaia behind and travel through the peat bog-covered valleys of the southernmost stretches of the Fuegian Andes. Explore the nature of this Patagonian region in the Carbajal, Huskies, Tierra Mayor and Las Cotorrasv alleys,all popular.
You'll start by crossing the sharply rising Andes at Garibaldi Pass (1,476 feet/450 meters), host to spectacular views of the lakes Escondido and Fagnano. Then, travel down the mountain beside Lake Escondido and absorb the surroundings in their natural rustic charm. You'll continue with a visit to the Martinez sawmill along Lake Fagnano. Although no longer in operation, this interesting site provides a glimpse into the local history. After enjoying the scenery around the lake, you'll make a final stop in Las Cotorras Valley, where you'll indulge in a traditional Fuegian lamb barbecue (not included in price).


Day 15- USHUAIA / BUENOS AIRES:
Breakfast. During the morning today you will enjoy a Half day tour to The Penguin Colony located at Estancia Harberton. Martillo Island, in the Beagle Channel belongs to Harberton Farm and is home of Magellanic Penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) between September and AprilThe colony has more than 3000 nests and is one of the three colonies inTierra del Fuego.MartilloIslandis also inhabitated by a small colony of Gentoo penguins (Pygoscellis papua, a very rare specie in South America. The Magellanic colony was established naturally around the 70s and is still growing. Now they almost have the same size of their parents.This tour goes driving through winter valleys, the Coast of the Beaglke Chanell for about80 kilometres until you reach Estancia Harberton, here all our guests will embark on a Zodiac and after a quick siling crossing the chanell you will find Martillo island, here the specialists guides will take you on a walk between this animals. Return to Ushuaia on mid-afternoon. If you stay this last morning in the town, we recommend a visit to theMarithimeMuseumand Old Penitenciary. On the late afternoon at appropriate time, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight toBuenos Aires. Upon arrival toBuenos Aires, you will have a private transfer to your hotel.

Day 16 – BUENOS AIRES – END OF THE TRIP: Breakfast. At the convenient time transfer to Buenos Aires airport for your flight back home. End of the trip.
